All MAC Out?

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

How is everyone's week so far? I hope you're enjoying the beautiful month of May. I have been insanely busy at work and haven't had time to blog as often as before.  While taking a short break from work (yes, it is midnight and I'm still working), I was perusing Specktra to see the latest swatches for MAC To the Beach Collection.  Surprisingly this has already been launched in the UK online before US! I'm jealous of you ladies who get to see them early.

However, after looking at all the pretty swatches posted, my lemming actually...vanished?!  I don't know about you, but besides the ridiculously cute packaging, there is nothing from this collection that stands out for me.  Yes, Marine Life with the seahorse is insanely gorgeous but the color itself is not all that special to meWow..maybe I'm all MAC'ed out?  In any case, I will not be around to check out the collection on the day of release since I'll be on a plane.  This is the first time I won't be in line to see a MAC launch or furiously swatching to post on the blog for you ladies.  I take it all back..Marine Life is actually very versatile when I saw this in person and I'm still around to provide you with swatches and updates on this collection. Now for those in the US who really want to get your hands on the collection early, you can grab them now at Bloomingdales! Happy Hauling!!

What about you?  Are you planning to pick up anything from this collection?

The lipsticks look amazing although the shades seem similar to a few they already have as per usual! I wouldn't mind trying out the the cream bronze or lustre drops though!

I've never tried any MAC products, do you think they're worth the money? I'm willing to try it out, just I need to know what to get.
Check out my blog if you can and give me some advice :)
Thanks girl!

Britton- will do :)

I wasnt all that impressed either. I seriously considered getting the lustre drops for a second but realized there is no need to go around looking all shimmery-faced everywhere, especially when you dont live in a sunny area

If I see whords of haul posts and swatches Ill probably get suckered in to buying an item or two though :)

Thanks for the post!

I think the must haves are Hipness blush and the cream bronzers (if you like cream products, I don't!). The body oil is lovely but the glitter probably isn't for everyone.

I am similarly underwhelmed. I'm thinking I might go for one of the cream bronzers... but I do love my Bronze Universal and am skeptical that these can measure up.

Omgosh I was thinking the same thing! I've been drifting away from MAC -partially because I'm on a budget and the fact that everytime I buy something MAC, I never fully love it. While I'm drawn in by their prices (lower than most "high end" brands), I'm turned away by their quality. For instance, MAC lipsticks. I was going to get Lazy Day from this collection but I'm rethinking it now because I HATE their formulas. Every single MAC lipstick I own makes my lips look and feel dry so it takes a lot of work just to wear them. Basically, either buy the $14 MAC lipstick or shell out another $11 for a way better quality Shiseido lipstick that will give you everything that's supposed to be in a lipstick: Pigmentation, moisture, texture, etc.

So basically, I feel like I have a bunch of MAC stuff I never use. This is due to quality in some of their items. I feel like I might as well buy something of better quality that I'll actually use and pay more for it.

As for this collection, 2-3 months ago, I had a whole wishlist planned out. As time went on, I would drop more and more items. Now I only want 2 or 3 items. The packaging is beautiful though.. Like always, I think so many people get drawn in because of the "LE" factor -not necessarily for quality. I don't know what to do. It's either I place a Shu Uemura order (20% at their site right now!) OR spend on this collection and not get the best quality.

Ok, enought ranting! I think lots of people feel like you though and I'm one of them. I'm not just MAC'd out with the collections, more so the brand as a whole.

Kali - I know exactly what you mean and I'm a semi MAC collector! What I can say is they do a phenomenal job in marketing the products and getting all the hype out there with LE which in turn gets promoted a year later. If you love Shiseido or Shu, go for it! I think it's better to spend a little more on things you'll always grab for instead of something cheaper that will sit in the drawer collecting dust.

I was at a MAC today and I saw the display in the back room but didn't ask to see it :P.

I'll probably check out the lipsticks, eyeshadows & blushes :]

The collection's out here on 1 May. We're getting it earlier than most of the countries because Pret a Papier is not launched here! I only picked up the 2 blushes. I really like the packaging. :)

I think if you a 'decent' amount of colors from MAC...the interest in newer collections fade...I meaN how many more 'green and orange Shadows can one need...I know many mnay people buy funky colors for the sake of buying (including me)...Only few really use them..
I am interested in brushes...but if you knw me...I will wait for them to hit my CCO...:)

Thanks for the comment on my blog! I was looking online at MAC stuff and holy cow the brushes are expensive! Are they worth the money? It seems crazy to spend $40 on a brush.

didn't know they released that in UK before US.. that is indeed a rarity! I'm trying to avoid buying from MAC for a while. but it's good eye candy to see everyone sporting it!

Hi! I posted a review of this collection a few days ago on my blog. I was so looking forward to it but I was so disappointed with Marine Life, the highlight powder. Scorcher nail lacquer is nice, though!

Hmmm I'm not much of a MAC girl but sometimes the packaging really sucker me in XD

To your last question - hehe the lipstick is actually from Joe Fresh Cosmetics in Strawberry --actually, I didn't even know D&G release makeup!
