Beauty Week International Edition - Day 1

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Greetings ladies! This week will be the international edition of naturalNchicmakeup as I will be writing to you from Asia. After a long and painful 14.5 hrs flight, I finally landed in Hong Kong on a cloudy and rainy night.  Being the beauty addict that I am, I headed straight to Sasa on a mission to find Silk Whitia and My Beauty Diary masks. It doesn't help that I'm so jet lagged my head started to spin when I stepped into the store.  There are so many brands of cosmetics that it's mind boggling. I don't know where to start! I found the Silk Whitia but it's rather expensive...around $4USD a piece and I couldn't find My Beauty Diary masks anywhere.

Another sad piece of news...MAC is no longer at the DFS counters at the local airport. I was looking forward to finding that BB Cream to review for all of you but no luck.  I'll try again at a local MAC counter and at the HKG DFS.  Since MAC wasn't available, I did some major damage at the Chanel counter which I will post pictures of my haul in the next couple of days.

Now for those of you who are experts at Sasa, please do advise...what brands should I go for? I saw Majolica but there are 6-8 different types of mascaras..which to choose?

For now, I'll leave you with my first dining adventure in Hong Kong.

Oysters with Singapore sausage

Wonton soup

Fish ball noodle

Seafood curry over rice

Hope you have fun in HongKong! I want to visit there again too :D. Maybe you can find MBD masks in 'Manning' a.k.a. 'Guardian' drugstore. And I love MajoMajo Lash Expander Frame Plus mascara :)

I can't wait for you posts on Asian makeup; I have an insane obsession with them!

Lash expanded frame plus is good, I hear. Haven't tried it tho. It's difficult to take off tho, so maybe you should get the beautymaker eyemakeup remover. That takes off everything.

Also, make sure to look at the expiration date on the products before you purchase them. I ordered stuff from there and some items were expired. My friend from hong kong also purchased one thing that was expired too. But have fun and I'm sure you'll find great things!

Oooh you're in HK now you lucky girl!!!
I didn't have any problems finding MBD masks in HK though :S Have you tried Color Mix? It's also a beauty store similar to Sasa. Where there's Sasa, there will also be Color Mix :) They also sell the masks for cheaper too if I recall. Also, I don't know if I already mentioned this but if you're stopping in Taiwan along the way, best to check out the MBD there because it's dirt cheap!

I don't know where else you've tried in HK but here's a list of my favorite haunts:
1. LKF (obvious reasons XD)
2. Jill Stuart at Soho -- it's just so pretty!
3. Ladies' Market in Mongkok
4. Mongkok Centre (Buy your bags here--and make sure you make it to the OTHER side because clothes are cheaper there--and if you buy a bag, make sure you HAGGLE, the clothes aren't as negotiable in price but you can try here).
5. Karaoke! --go during the day, it'll be cheaper and there's buffet :)
6. Satay King -- order the white curry vermicelli soup noodle, the original satay flavor is good too but the white curry is the best. Go during tea time (2-5pm) because it's cheaper and comes with a drink. Satay King has two locations; one by Ladies' Market and one by Bank Centre--also by Mongkok Station
7. Also don't forget to try the original Milk Tea (anywhere) and the Ying Yang drink (mix of milk tea and coffee)

Hope you have a great time in Hong Kong! ^^

Oh... My man and I were just talking about going to visit HK again today! We were there in Feb this year and loved it there. The shopping, the food, everything was great! I went to SaSa almost everyday but I didn't know about any Asian cosmetics/skin care brands except for the major ones.

Can't wait to see your HK haul :D I bought so many stuffs that I was too afraid to calculate how much I've spent. When it comes to shopping, the word 'budget' doesn't exist in my dictionary! *lol*

Enjoy your time in HK!
